We've gathered togeather what contstitues a base system, and are beginning heavily development of the crypto layer and various security programs.

We've put togeather what I think will be a very strong development team. Consequently, I have deceided to make the developer's mailing list private. In the next month or so, I'll create an "announcements" list.

Not that we're hiding anything ;) kha0S will be disclosing fully our decisions made during the development process. I have just come to the conclusion that a closed developer's list is more conducive to the process.

Look for future additions to this page re: our full disclosure policy.

kha0S continues to receive very generous offers from the Linux community. The support you have shown is very motivating. I can assure you that we are all working very hard over the hols at our goal of making Linux secure for the average user.

Keep those suggestions coming! There are some seriously paranoid Linux users out there with some brilliant ideas. It has warmed my heart during the past cold and snowy days to know that I am not alone in my paranoia and rabid desire for personal freedom.

kha0S wishes you a very Happy New Year.

I looked into getting a booth at the forthcoming LinuxExpo after reading on slashdot that the organizers were offering free booths to Open Source projects. However, they seem to require that recipient organizations have an official non-profit status with the IRS. That combined with the recent news that Debian has had to go begging for funding in order to have a booth, well, I wrote back to the organizers and suggested that they provide Debian with a much deserved booth. While I have nothing against the more "corporate" minded distributions, it really irks me that that a major distribution like Debian finds itself in a position like this due to cash flow problems.

Anyway, I suppose what I mean to say is that kha0S will have some semblance of a presence at LinuxExpo in May, even if it is just a couple of us wandering around with dorky nametags ;) I'm saving my pennies so that we will be able to hand out a few free CDs and such.

Hrmmm. Perhaps now would be a good time to state that this project really needs a CD-R. Naw, I'll just mention that on the wish list

The response to the freshmeat announcement has been overwhelming. I'd like to thank everyone who wrote in to express interest in the project - as well as thank some of you flamers for your email. We've all been quite amused ;)

Which brings me to my point. kha0S is not yet available for download. I posted an announcement simply in an attempt to recruit interested developers and sys admins. I can happily say that this goal was achieved in spades.

I do anticipate that there will be a compact version of kha0S available for download around the Ides of March. However, I make no promises. We're a young project and in need of some wiggle room ;)
